Project 200: My Weight Loss Goal

I Am On a Mission to Lose 80lbs

I weighed in at a hefty 280lbs on January 12, 2018.

Project 200 is my weight loss goal to get back to 200lbs.  A number that I haven’t been since my senior year of high school in 2002-2003.

For most of my life, I have been “heavy”, but fluctuated between 265lbs and 230lbs regularly.  In 2016 I had two surgeries, one to remove a tumor from my neck and the second was to fix an abdominal hernia.  The hernia was likely caused by my frequent weight fluctuation, or it at least contributed.  Over the course of 2017, I put on an additional 30 pounds from the time of my first surgery, in which I weighed in around 250lbs, putting me at 280lbs.

WHY IS 200 Your Weight Loss Goal?

When I got my student ID in early 2004, my freshman year of college, I had already ballooned to 290lbs.  I had went from playing sports and being active regularly, to sitting behind a desk and eating junk food for most of my free time.  When I seen my picture, I knew there was something terribly wrong.  I immediately started a diet and within 3 months, I had lost 60 pounds.  This was the start to my almost yearly weight fluctuation.  It was like I would just get comfortable at 230lbs and then fall back into all the unhealthy habits that I had before.

280lbs To Start With
280lbs! Let’s get rid of 80 of them!

So, when I decided to join a weight loss competition, I didn’t want to set my goal at something I had already hit numerous times.  I wanted to blow past that number and achieve something that I had not in over 15 years.  So, I chose my high school weight of 200lbs.  A loft goal, but one I am determined to crush.

It is not easy for me to do.  It honestly scares the living shit out of me.  On the other hand, I really hope that my journey can help motivate someone else.  For us that are overweight, sometimes we feel alone, which can lead to bad habits that further contribute to our weight gain.

I just want you to know, if you have had this battle, that you are not alone.  If you make the choice to change your life, you can do it.  I am going to and you can watch me the whole way!
